THE FIRST TSINGHUA INTERNATIONAL FORUM OF DOCTORAL CANDIDATES RESEARCH TRAINING ON HOW TO STUDY INNOVATION AND INNOVATION SYSTEMS
TIFDC — CICALICS Academy 2005
Objective: The first Tsinghua International Forum of Doctoral Candidates (TIFDC)—CICALICS Academy is a joint initiative by TIFDC and CICALICS. The goal of TIFDC—CICALICS Academy 2005 aims at providing research training and exchange for the best Ph.D. students from China and aboard working on innovation and competence building systems. The TIFDC—CICALICS Academy 2005 will have the best teachers, international as well as Chinese, delivering lectures on frontier progress in the field and on methodological issues; and this Academy offers a forum at which PhD students discuss on their academic experience and establish their across-country links.
This Academy is held from 3 September to 11 September, 2005, immediately after the CICALICS Workshop to take the advantage of the CICALICS widespread international connection of scholars who participate in the Workshop.
International scholars Benjamin Coriat (France), Robin Cowan (The Netherlands and Canada), Bengt-Ake Lundvall (Denmark and Tsinghua University in China), Robert Boyer (USA), Michael Storper (USA), among others, will join the Academy.
Academic activities Academic activities include (1) lectures series provided by well-known international and Chinese Professors, each lecture is followed by open discussions. Focuses of lectures will be both in new advances in studies in innovation and competence building systems and on research methodology instructions; (2) presentations by young scholar of their work, followed by comments from junior scholars and senior professors.

Fees: (1) No application fee is charged; (2) The Academy offers local accommodations; (3) Participants should in principle pay expenditure for international travel by themselves
