Professor, Chair, Department of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Strategy
Wei XIE is Professor and Chair of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Strategy Department in School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University. The main courses professor Xie teaches include leadership development, enterprise management foundation and management innovation, etc.
His research interests are mainly in Strategic Management, Innovation Management, Strategic Alliance and Business Model. He has taken charge of or participated in 6 programs funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China, such as “Management and competitive strategy of technical standard in information industry ” ,“Technology-driven M&As and Technology learning program ”, "Major basic problems in emerging e-commerce and key technology research", "How to enhance the ability of independent innovation of equipment manufacturing industries in China", "Empirical research of independent innovation mode and obstacle in Chinese enterprises", "Technology study in Chinese and foreign joint ventures", etc. Besides, he also cooperated with China Society and Technology Association, Ministry of Education, Science Times, China Association for Science and Technology Development Research Center and many other departments and organizations in science research programmes. Further more, he has published more than 40 papers on major academic journals home and abroad such as Research Policy、International Journal of Business and Emerging Markets 、Technovation、R&D Management、Management world、Science Research Management、International Journal of Technology Management、Journal of Technology Management in China etc. He was awarded "Outstanding Teacher Award granted by Education Fund of Bao Steel Group(2003) ", "Beijing Philosophical Social Science Research Achievement Award(2004 )", "New Century Excellent Intellectual Program, China's Ministry of Eduction(2005 )", "Outstanding Youth Teachers in Tsinghua University(2007)", "Higher School Science Research Achievement Prize Second-class(2009)", "Academic Progress Award in School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University(2004 )", "The First National Top 100 Excellent Teaching Case Award(2010)", "Excellent Teaching Award in School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University(2001,2002,2006,2009)", "Second-class Excellent Teaching Award in School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University(2004,2005,2010)", "Scientific Research Work Advancing Award in School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University(2006 )", etc.
In 1989, Wei XIE got his bachelor's degree of automotive engineering in PLA Transportation Engineering College. Then 1993, he graduated from Southeast University for a master's degree in philosophy and science. School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University awarded him the doctor's degree in 1999. In addition, he had went to MIT Sloan school of management of
United States
in 2000 as a visiting scholar. He is now members of editorial committee in some international journals such as R&D Management (in Chinese), Journal of Technology Management in
China
and International Journal of Business and Emerging Markets.
