Biography
Dr. GAO Jian is a Professor of Department of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Strategy in Tsinghua SEM. He received his Bachelor and Master in Engineering from Chongqing Institute of Architecture and Engineering in 1984 and 1987; Ph.D.in Management from Tsinghua University in 1996. He teaches Corporate Finance, Theory of Entrepreneurial and Innovation, Entrepreneurial Finance, Venture Capital Management, and Entrepreneurial Opportunity Recognition and Business Plan，New Venture Creation，Studies for Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurial Management.
Dr. GAO Jian’s main Research Interests include Venture Capital, Entrepreneurial Finance, Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Technology Commercialization. He has been the project leader or key member for several research projects funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) , Ministry of Education, Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Committee, NSF USA etc. He has published 21 papers during last five years in Studies in Science of Science, Science Research Management, Asia Pacific Business Review, International Journal of Innovation Management, etc. He coauthored books like Proceedings of Academy of Innovation and Entrepreneurship 2009, Global Entrepreneurship Monitor 2005 in China (in Chinese), City Entrepreneurship Monitor in China (in Chinese), Venture Capital and the Financing of China’s New Technology Firms,' Financial Systems, Investment in Innovation, and Venture Capital: The Case of China’, Global Entrepreneurship Monitor 2005 in China (in Chinese). He translated the book named Valuation: Measuring and Managing the Value of Company by Tim Koller, Marc Goedhart, David Wessels. Dr.Gao Jian has won First Prize for Beijing Excellent Achievements in Philosophy and Social Sciences, Outstanding Teaching Award for Young Faculty from Tsinghua University, First Prize for Beijing Excellent Achievements in Philosophy and Social Sciences. His Research on Technological Innovation Theory in China won him The First Prize for S&T Progress from Ministry of Education of China in 2000.
Dr. GAO Jian used to be Fellow of Global Technology Entrepreneurship Education Program in UC Berkeley, Senior Visiting Scholar in Stanford University Graduate School of Business, Fellow of The 18th PriceBabson Program of Babson College, Coordinator of High Tech MBA Program ASU (Arizona State University) & Motorola & Tsinghua University, Visiting Scholar in MIT Sloan School of Management, Assistant Professor and Lecturer in Chongqing Institute of Architecture and Engineering (Chongqing University), and Director of Beijing Association of Value Engineering. He is now Editor-in-chief of Management of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Associate Editor of Technological Economics, Member of Editorial Board of Review of Management Science , Associate Director of National Entrepreneurship Research Center in Tsinghua University, Member of Editor Board of Science Research Management (Top journal of S&T management and policy), Coordinator of Global Entrepreneurship Monitor in China, Board Member of Chinese Association of Technological Economics, Board Member of Chinese Association for Science of Science and S&T Policy, Associate Director of Entrepreneurship committee of China Association for Employment Promotion. From 2009 till now, he is Member of Advisory Board of Administration of Haidian Science Park of National Experimental Zone for Independent Innovation.
