OBJECTIVE

To provide a prestige reference work which offers students and researchers an introduction to current scholarship in the expanding discipline of innovation management. Particularly, to present the debates and conflicts in the frontier of innovation studies.

RATIONALE

Innovation contributes centrally to corporate competitiveness, economic performance, and environmental sustainability. In the internet era, innovation intelligence is transferred across boarders and languages in an unprecedented rate, yet the ability to benefit from it seems to become more divergently among different corporations and countries. How much an organization can obtain benefit from innovation largely depends upon how well innovation is managed in it. Thus, there is a discernible increase of interest in the study of innovation management. At present, researchers are short of a comprehensive guide on this subject. Thus, this proposal offers a chance to portray the perspectives on innovation management as a fast developing field of study.

READERSHIP

· Students and researchers in innovation studies, technology & innovation management;

· Academics and students seeking convenient access to an unfamiliar area;

· Established researchers seeking a single repository on the current state of knowledge, current debates and relevant literature.

CONTENT AND STRUCTURE

As shown below under Table of Contents, the proposed volume of 11 chapters will be organised in five thematic sections. The first section introduces the basic framework of innovation and innovation management. The following sections help readers to understand innovation management from the perspectives of strategy, organization, resource, institution & culture, as well as internationalization of innovation. The proposed structure is intended to reflect the increasing diversity of contemporary research on innovation management.

Each chapter would provide a balanced overview of current knowledge, identifying issues and discussing relevant debates. It is expected that the style of the chapters will be analytical and engaging.

LENGTH

The chapters would cover established and emerging themes. As such they will necessarily vary in length. The articles will be between 10k and 15k words each. We envisage that the volume will comprise about 200k words.

CONTRIBUTORS

The chapters will be written by an international selection of authors drawn from the UK, USA, Canada, India, China, Singapore, Australasia and continental Europe et al. The authors comprise leading experts in the relevant subject. Most are senior contributors. Others are promising younger scholars who have a proven track record of publication.
